Prisoner Engagement
Engaging with people in prison has long been a central part of our work and will continue to shape our work in the future. Through initiatives such as the Prisoner Policy Network (PPN) and the Building Futures program we have built a history of listening to and amplifying the experiences of people in prison and their families.
The PPN has served as a correspondence network of current and former prisoners and their families and as a channel for sharing their experiences and ideas with policymakers.
People in prison stayed informed about developments in criminal justice policy while accessing opportunities to contribute their perspectives on the issues that affect them most. Through this work, PPN supported PRT to connect lived experience with policy development, highlighting problems and helping shape practical solutions.
PRT are currently working to build on the ground laid by the PPN to develop a refreshed organisational approach to engagement that provides meaningful, impactful and mutually beneficial outcomes, ensuring engagement with those with experience of the criminal justice system will run through everything we do.
You can find examples of this work and the insights generated by PPN below.
